Need help to assembly back DingBot
Hello.
My name is Cheok and I am from Malaysia.
I owned a DingBot (http://www.theoldrobots.com/dingbot.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Na__KjdHPg) 20+ back years ago. Just that recently, I want to gift it to my small niece. However, I realize its DC motor not working anymore, due to loosen of wire. Hence, I dissemble the entire robot, tighten the wire. The DC motor is working right now.
Unfortunately, I have no idea how to put it back anymore! The design of its mechanical is much more sophisticated than I expected! (Yah, It is patented! - http://www.theoldrobots.com/images49/Dingbot-1.pdf)
Here is the characteristics of this robot
1) He will move forward for a while
2) He will then stop, turn his head left right several times.
3) While his head is turning, there is sound being emitted. (Interesting, I don't find any sound chip in the robot. I was wondering how does it emit the sound using mechanical way?)
4) Just in case he hits obstacle, he will turn around (I am not quite remember he is turning left or right)
Here are the components where I cannot figure out how to put them together, so that the moving-stop-head turning-moving mechanism works.

Here are its other components. I think I shouldn't have problem to put up rest of others.

If you own this robot, help is very much appreciated, to teach me how to assembly back the robot. I really wish to pass down my childhood favorite toy to my niece.
Or, possible for you to help me spread this message to appropriate community? As I do not mix around much with robot hobbyist community :)
Thanks a lot!

Upcoming Development Plan for JStock
Recently, JStock project receives quite a number of constructive suggestions from users. We would like draft out upcoming development plan for JStock.
- Better visibility for chart trend line color. I understand it is quite a bad taste, to choose yellow color for trend line and white color for background. We shall fix the used color for trend line.
- Enhancement over Stock Indicator Editor. The basic functionality of indicator editor is there. However, it is still not easy to build certain common used indicators, using current available tools. This requires enhancements too.
- This is our favorite. We shall start to support Android platform.
Please bear with us as all these works take time. If you would like to support all these works, do consider code contribution, or some monetary donations.

Migrating cloud storage from Google App Engine to Google Doc
After researching for a while, we decide to launch the following development activity, in order to solve the problem http://yccheok.blogspot.com/2011/11/cloud-storage-is-temporary-unavailable.html
User may continue to enjoy cloud storage feature, with the additional enhancement.
- No more cloud storage downtime, we do not host the server to store user data. We let Google Doc storage to store user data.
- No more privacy issues, as data will be stored in user's Google Doc storage, not ours.
Development is still in progress. Stay tune. :)

Cloud Storage is temporary unavailable!
UPDATE (15 January 2012) : We are now working out the solution to overcome this problem. For how our solution work, please refer to http://yccheok.blogspot.com/2012/01/migrating-cloud-storage-from-google-app.html
Under new pricing scheme, free quota offered by Google, will quickly consumed away by JStock users from all around the world, within few hours!!!
The below screen shoot explains what is going on.
As you can see, under old pricing scheme offered by Google, JStock's Cloud Storage service can run free of charge, within a single day, on Google server.
However, under new pricing scheme, this is how it looks like just after a few hours.
Currently, we are still figuring out, how we can make this cloud storage feature FREE always.
- Switching to another service provider? But which service provider does provide free cloud storage, for an open source project?
- Monetary support from JStock users? http://jstock.sourceforge.net/donation.html
- ???
- ???
Till now, we deeply apologize for the unavailability of cloud storage feature!
For temporary workaround, you may import and your data in Microsoft Excel format or CSV format as shown below. Just go to File -> Save as...
Besides import and export using Microsoft Excel/ CSV format, you may also perform backup, by perform copying operation on .jstock folder as described here : http://jstock.sourceforge.net/help_install_upgrade.html#upgrade-windows

Early Snapshot of jstock-android Development

Currently, I only plan to port over Portfolio Management feature from Desktop version JStock to Android version JStock.
This is because, I realize there a quite a number of free and good Stock Market related apps out there. For example, Bloomberg for Smartphone (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bloomberg.android&hl=en)
However, I feel that their portfolio management feature is not as comprehensive as JStock's. That's where I try to make jstock-android fill in the gap. :)
Currently, jstock-android is under active development. You are welcomed to participate in it.

Slow Development Progress of JStock - Why?
Recently, you may notice that, JStock is having slow development progress. The latest release of JStock 1.0.6c only comes with 2 bug fixes.

This is because I am trying to port a subset of JStock's features into Android platform. Since I am pretty new to Android, this may take some time :)

Setup Git to Use WinMerge
It is rather cumbersome to setup WinMerge for Git.
Here are the summarize steps.
- Add the following line to C:\Users\yccheok\.profile
export TERM=msysSSH_ENV="$HOME/.ssh/environment"
2. Add the following line to C:\Users\yccheok\.gitconfig
[diff]tool = diffmerge[difftool "diffmerge"]cmd = "C:/Progra~1/WinMerge/WinMergeU.exe" "$LOCAL" "$REMOTE" | cat
To test out, type the following command.
git difftool HEAD A.java
It seems that using Git under Windows is still not a pleasant task yet.
