We just won :)

After 2 weeks of close race, we finally won the vote poll! UFO : AI had us there for a couple of days. But, with supports from various parties, we manage to won the race by 23 votes.

I am really very much grateful for your support. In no particular order, I want to express my highest gratitude to the following people, bloggers, forum owners, site owners and communities.

In the next coming month, we are going to see JStock project being listed at the top of the SourceForge.net front page for the entire of December.

However, this is not something which I'm excited about. What I'm really excited about is, there will be a significant number of users and contributors attracted to JStock Open Source Project. With them, a healthy community is going to be formed around this Open Source Project.

One day, even the original team lefts JStock, the project will still be alive and evolve. There will always be new people coming in, to take care of and grow the project.

Together, we are just getting started...

Thank you,
Cheok

Need help to assembly back DingBot

Hello.

My name is Cheok and I am from Malaysia.

I owned a DingBot (http://www.theoldrobots.com/dingbot.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Na__KjdHPg) 20+ back years ago. Just that recently, I want to gift it to my small niece. However, I realize its DC motor not working anymore, due to loosen of wire. Hence, I dissemble the entire robot, tighten the wire. The DC motor is working right now.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to put it back anymore! The design of its mechanical is much more sophisticated than I expected! (Yah, It is patented! - http://www.theoldrobots.com/images49/Dingbot-1.pdf)

Here is the characteristics of this robot

1) He will move forward for a while

2) He will then stop, turn his head left right several times.

3) While his head is turning, there is sound being emitted. (Interesting, I don't find any sound chip in the robot. I was wondering how does it emit the sound using mechanical way?)

4) Just in case he hits obstacle, he will turn around (I am not quite remember he is turning left or right)

Here are the components where I cannot figure out how to put them together, so that the moving-stop-head turning-moving mechanism works.

Here are its other components. I think I shouldn't have problem to put up rest of others.

If you own this robot, help is very much appreciated, to teach me how to assembly back the robot. I really wish to pass down my childhood favorite toy to my niece.

Or, possible for you to help me spread this message to appropriate community? As I do not mix around much with robot hobbyist community :)

Thanks a lot!

Upcoming Development Plan for JStock

Recently, JStock project receives quite a number of constructive suggestions from users. We would like draft out upcoming development plan for JStock.

  • Better visibility for chart trend line color. I understand it is quite a bad taste, to choose yellow color for trend line and white color for background. We shall fix the used color for trend line.
  • Enhancement over Stock Indicator Editor. The basic functionality of indicator editor is there. However, it is still not easy to build certain common used indicators, using current available tools. This requires enhancements too.
  • This is our favorite. We shall start to support Android platform.
Please bear with us as all these works take time. If you would like to support all these works, do consider code contribution, or some monetary donations.

Migrating cloud storage from Google App Engine to Google Doc

After researching for a while, we decide to launch the following development activity, in order to solve the problem http://yccheok.blogspot.com/2011/11/cloud-storage-is-temporary-unavailable.html

User may continue to enjoy cloud storage feature, with the additional enhancement.

  • No more cloud storage downtime, we do not host the server to store user data. We let Google Doc storage to store user data.
  • No more privacy issues, as data will be stored in user's Google Doc storage, not ours.
Development is still in progress. Stay tune. :)
